Piano and voice lessons for children and adults. Beginners welcome. Teaching from Noosa and Cooroy areas by appointment.
I am thrilled at being able to impart my skills, knowledge and creativity in piano and voice lessons to help others on their musical journey. Music has been so important to me in my life, I don’t know what I would have done if I couldn’t play instruments, sing and be creative!
I have learnt from some of Australia’s best in the industry.
Currently there is a waiting list for both locations.

About
Welcome to Las Vagus Curaciones Music & Art Studio
Hi, I’m Jemma Elle Michael – a singer/songwriter, pianist, music arranger, performer, piano & voice tutor.
I’ve performed to many crowds (large and small) at events, private parties, charity functions, family days, wineries, restaurants, bars, pubs and live to air radio.
I’m passionate about original music, and more specifically indie music. Whilst I have done many gigs with a mixture of covers and originals – I’m most at home bringing my expression to music I’ve written using keys and vocals. And definitely no AI is used to create songs.
I’ve spent time in high profile recording studios in Melbourne and co-hosted radio, I’ve also been interviewed about my music on Star FM, Yarra Ranges FM breakfast show and others. I’ve had my tracks, from my independently produced EP back in 2008, played on a few Melbourne radio stations.
I have tutored students (adults and children) both in Victoria and Queensland building confidence and skill development for both aspiring performers and those wishing to re-connect with their singing voice or learn skills for the first time. I am now fortunate enough to be operating out of a Noosa music studio and a health arts space in Cooroy.
For a couple of years now I have also facilitated therapeutic focused group music circles for women at two venues that incorporates relaxation, mindfulness, sound immersion, live music on flute, piano, singing and guitar. Sometimes we write a new song together in this safe space.
I studied the Estill Voice technique for practitioners back in 2004 and was successful in applying to study at National Theatre Actor’s Studio focusing on industry standard acting techniques. I have done musical theatre and choirs as foundational training and have attended lessons and masterclasses with some of Australia’s leading voice and acting practitioners.
I was accepted into a Fine Arts degree, inspired by winning a National painting award and acting award in my last year of school. During my Fine Art Degree I took subjects in acting and movement, again with leading tutors.
In Melbourne, I’ve also been exposed to the film/TV industry where I’ve done production work, dabbled in extras work, and even a featured role for a National road safety campaign.
In addition to my music, I am a current full registered teacher, certified registered Counsellor (PACFA) and hold other accreditations and memberships including NDIS worker screening check.
Here, creativity meets learning
For as long as I can remember, I have prioritised creative and critical thinking in my learning. As a child I wrote music, and although it might have been pretty simplistic, it was still ‘original’ and ‘leading’ with my own voice in contrast to systemisation. I still write music today and over time it has developed into quite an extensive portfolio.
When I became a qualified teacher, I took my creative and critical thinking pedagogy into classrooms and where possible I applied this. Some schools were more receptive than others, but I knew the students knew I had their best interests at heart.
My motto was always to encourage, to validate self expression in creative arts, to try new things and that mistakes were okay. I’ve taught thousands of students in the school system and before this I advocated for younger children through marginally funded programs addressing children at risk of disengaging from learning.
Outside of school contexts, there are many opportunities to address creativity and approach learning a musical instrument or voice. Focused attention within personalised coaching concentrates on the individual’s skill levels, abilities, motivation, aptitude for learning and neurology for responding to musical cues. ie. playing by ear, reading music, pitch, interpreting patterns in music.
In 2011, I thought it was a joke that I was offered entry into an Honours Degree in Education at Monash University and even more so when they awarded me the Silver Jubilee Honours Scholarship as an Education student studying arts education. Here I excelled in music research in education and got a few High Distinctions along the way.
When I think about creativity, there are so many interpretations in global education systems, and even within the arts. Some think creativity is making splashes of colour on a page, where to others it is something more complex relating to stylistic choices.
At the end of the day, I don’t feel labels matter. What matters is a curious and enquiring mind. One who seeks to problem solve, to look for purpose, codes and to be inspired by both fundamental skills and to consider stylistic expressions prompted by historical, cultural and social influences.
Learning can happen in many ways. Sometimes the process of the ‘doing’ can be the engaging thing in itself. Creating within the experience can be a means to an end. Achieving learning how to play a particular song on an instrument can be very rewarding - until the next challenge comes along.
If you’ve read up to here and you learn piano with me - keep practising! Keep listening to music - all walks of music.
